The department of Public Health
Dentistry deals with preventive, promotive and curative oral health services at
mass level (Community level) especially for rural, underserved and under
privileged population.
We have a dedicated team of
professionals and a fully equipped mobile dental van
with all modern equipments and instruments, which are used to carry out dental
screening and treatment during camps (outreach programmes). We offer
comprehensive oral health care for the patients that include health education,
pit and fissure sealant applications, topical fluoride applications,
restorations, pulp therapies, extractions and referral to other specialty
departments.
To sensitize, educate and spread
the message across the larger population, customized programs like Screening
for Oral Cancer, AIDS awareness program, Anti-tobacco campaigns, WHO day, World
Oral Hygiene Day are observed and conducted on relevant dates in the calendar.
Health education is given for certain special groups like pregnant and
lactating mother, diabetics etc.
Certain health awareness programs
are also for school children wherein the children are educated about how to
maintain good oral hygiene.
The Department has centralized museum where dental health
education materials have been displayed which are both informative and
educative. The department has also satellite clinics for extension of dental
services at rural areas.
